Client Monitored Picks
Since 2001: Since our inception in 2001,
our clients have been actively monitoring our
picks after every graded selection. Posting our
basketball handicapping records to the public is
our #1 priority here at NBA
Choice. We don't hide behind false pretenses and
we keep our records available to the public
viewing to convey not only our accuracy, but our
honesty as a trusted sports service. With so many
new handicapping services popping up over the
internet every year, it's tough to find a service
that stands by their picks in an honest manner.
Needless to say, if a
sports service can't show their documented NBA
records on the site for the world to see, then you
simply can't trust them. Here, we don't hide
anything from our customers, nor the public, as we
keep all of our records posted and up-to-date.
Each basketball pick is hand graded and monitored
by our clients. We stand by our picks and
our clients stand by us!

Game 1: Philly at Detroit (Detroit -10)
The seventh-seeded Philadelphia 76ers have a chance to take a 2-0 lead over the second-seeded Detroit Pistons in the first round of the playoffs, as the teams battle tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills Game 3 of this best-of-seven set is scheduled for Friday at The Wachovia Center.
On Sunday, Andre Miller led five Sixers in double figures with 20 points and six assists as Philadelphia overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to stun the Pistons, 90-86, at The Palace in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
Reggie Evans finished with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Willie Green added 17 points in the win for the Sixers. Andre Iguodala scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out a game-high eight assists.
Rasheed Wallace paced the Pistons with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks. Jason Maxiell tallied a double-double off the bench with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Chauncey Billups netted 14 and Richard Hamilton scored 13 in defeat. Detroit has won six straight Game 2s in the postseason, while Philadelphia has dropped two in a row.
The Sixers are back in the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign. They have been eliminated by Detroit in their last two postseason appearances. The Pistons defeated Philadelphia in six games, 4-2, in the 2003 East semis and in five contests, 4-1, in the opening round of the 2005 playoffs.
The Pistons have made the Eastern Conference finals five straight years. They lost in six games, 4-2, last year to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East finals. Detroit is attempting to become the first team since the 1984-89 Los Angeles Lakers to reach six straight conference finals. Detroit was 34-7 at home during the regular season, while Philadelphia was 18-23 on the road. During the 2007-08 campaign, the Sixers and Pistons split four meetings. Both clubs picked up wins on the road and at home.
Our Point: Were not going to turn on the Pistons now, as game 1 ended up a nightmare for them in the second half. The Pistons came out in the third quarter, missed a couple of jumpers, missed a couple layups, turned the ball over a couple of times and the 76ers, already playing with house money, were rolling. The Pistons shot 29 percent in the second half. They missed 13 of 17 shots in the fourth. They also gave up 18 points off turnovers. The bench, other than Maxiell -- who was brilliant -- was as non-existent as the bench was last year. Rodney Stuckey played 13 minutes, attempted one shot and never got the offense moving. He and Hunter were on the floor to start the fourth and didn't make a basket for 3 1/2 minutes. Jarvis Hayes got the hook after five ugly minutes in the second quarter. Coach Flip Saunders went with a three-guard lineup in the second half to match-up with Andre Iguodala -- but he didn't use Arron Afflalo. Take away Maxiell's 12 points and 11 rebounds, and the bench's production was five points, five shots total, and four rebounds.
The Bottom Line: As you see, this is very uncharacteristic of the Pistons, especially in the playoffs. You can't find a better home team to bet on in the playoffs than the Pistons. They have savvy veterans and much playoff experience on the table. The Sixers bring youngness and desire, something that the Pistons obviously were lacking in game 1. Look for a HUGE turnaround tonight, and expect the Pistons to play the way they did in the first half - relentless. They had 11 assists on 21 field goals in the first half. They were scoring in the open floor (10 fastbreak points) and off second-chance opportunities (13). Wallace had 13 points, but Jason Maxiell chipped in 10, Tayshaun Prince had eight, Billups seven -- it was a group effort. Then it all stopped. Don't expect it to stop in this one.
Were not going to bet on the Sixers just yet, hold on! The Pistons are still 8-3 ATS their last 11 games, and they are 26-16 ATS ALL home games. Further, the Sixers are still 2-6 ATS their last 8 games and 1-2 ATS their last 3 at home. Look for the Pistons to come out and make a statement in this game. With that said, they can really dominate this Sixers team if they decide to start playing. Betting against the Pistons at home after a misfire in game 1 would be a mistake. The smart money is to play the overall consistent Pistons who are tried and true in the playoffs. We will not jump ship just yet.
Pistons -10 is the play!
Game 2: Atlanta at Boston (Boston -15.5)
Game Preview: The top-seeded Boston Celtics continue their quest to return to the glory days, as they host the eighth-seeded Atlanta Hawks tonight in Game 2 of the first round of the 2008 NBA playoffs.
Game 3 of this best-of-seven series is scheduled for Saturday at Philips Arena.
On Sunday, Ray Allen scored 18 points and Kevin Garnett notched a double- double with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Celtics crushed the Hawks, 104-81, at TD Banknorth Garden. Paul Pierce finished with 16 points in the victory for Boston, while Rajon Rondo netted 15 and dished out nine assists.
Rookie Al Horford collected 20 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Hawks. All-Star Joe Johnson ended with 19 points, five rebounds and seven assists in defeat. Atlanta has lost six of its last eight Game 2s in the playoffs, while the Celtics have dropped four straight Game 2s. The Hawks last playoff victory was on May 16, 1999 when they defeated Detroit in Game 5 of the first round of the postseason. Atlanta eliminated the Pistons, 3-2, and was swept by the New York Knicks, 4-0, in the East semis.
The Celtics captured a playoff berth and the Atlantic Division title for the first time since the 2004-05 season. Boston finished with its highest number of wins (66) since the 1985-86 squad went 67-15 before winning the NBA title. With a 66-16 mark in the regular season, Boston collected 42 more victories than it did last season, when it finished with a dismal 24-58 record. Boston earned the honor with ease thanks to an 8-0 start to the season, and later pushed the mark to 29-3 with a big win over Detroit in early January.
During the regular season, Boston was 3-0 against the Hawks as it won a pair of games at home and defeated Atlanta, 99-89, on April 12 at Philips Arena. The Celtics were an impressive 35-6 at home this season, while Atlanta was just 12-29 on the road.
Our Point: No reason to stop betting on the ultimate playoff team the Celtics at this point. The Hawks have no reason to be playing here and they know they are lucky to have made the playoffs. Further, this situation with Mike Bibby blasting all celtics fans is going to come back to haunt him. Garnett already said, they want to bring the same intensity and fire to every single game, even if they are up by 20 and ahead by multiple games. They are coming in like warriors looking to pund the poor Hawks. Simply put, the Hawks don't match up with the Celtics, period. Even the Celtics bench could take these Hawks.
The Bottom Line: The Celtics are a dominating 26-15 ATS, 36-6 at home the entire year. The Celtics are now 11-2 ATS, 12 -1 SU their last 12. The Hawks on the other hand limped into the playoffs with a lot of luck winning 1 of their last 5 games regular season, and going 1-5 ATS their last 5 games. Further, the Hawks were a terrible 17-25 ATS away from home, 12-30 SU the entire season. No way can we bet against the Celtics in this game. It's a no brainer, the smart money is on the Celtics tonight folks!
Celtics -15.5
Game 3: Denver at L.A. Lakers (Denver +9)
Game Preview: On Sunday, Pau Gasol finished with 36 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists as the Lakers used a strong second half to blitz the Nuggets, 128-114, in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series at the Staples Center. Superstar Kobe Bryant netted 18 in the fourth quarter and ended with 32 points in the win for the Lakers. Lamar Odom contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Luke Walton added 16 points off the bench.
Carmelo Anthony recorded 30 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for the Nuggets. Allen Iverson also scored 30 while dishing out seven assists before he was ejected with 2:10 left in the fourth quarter. Iverson received a pair of technicals for arguing with referee Ken Mauer. Linas Kleiza chipped in 23 points in defeat. Denver is scheduled to host the Lakers on Saturday at the Pepsi Center in Game 3 of this best-of-seven series. The Nuggets have lost 14 straight Game 2s in the postseason. The last time Denver won the second game of a playoff series was against the Lakers on May 4, 1985 in the Western Conference finals.
LA has won two of its last Game 2s in the playoffs. The Lakers were 3-0 against the Nuggets during the regular season. LA defeated Denver twice at the Staples Center and on December 5 at the Pepsi Center. This is the fourth time these teams have met in the postseason. The Lakers are a perfect 3-0 against the Nuggets, as they defeated Denver in the first round of the playoffs in 1979 and 1987. The Lakers also knocked out the Nuggets in five games, 4-1, in the 1985 West finals.
Our Point: The line is now 9 and the Lakers have drawn in 85% of the betting public. Tonight, we go against the public and we are taking the underdogs. The fact is these 2 teams match up very well as you saw in game 1. A few adjustments need to be made, mostly on the defensive front for the Nuggets. The public sees a 14 point beat-down in game 1. We see, 1 bad quarter, thats it! In Q-3, the Nuggets blew it as they allowed the Lakers to score nearly 40 points, and they went on a horrible shooting slump. The Nuggets only mustered 22 points to match, and this clearly blew their chances for the game as the 4th quarter began. The Nuggets even outplayed and outscored the Lakers in the 4th quarter, but the Lakers were still on cruise control from the 3rd and managed a safe 14 point win.
The Bottom Line: Look for a much better all around effort from the Nuggets tonight. 9 points is too much to pass up for such a talented team. In game 1, the Nuggets had the lead on several occasions, but let bad quarter ruin their chances for a game 1 upset. Look for a different focus tonight as the Nuggets will make some proper changes to NOT allow Kobe and Gasol combine for another 70 points in this one. We have said this before, the Lakers overall this season have not been exactly a safe bet at home going 21-21 ATS overall. Further, they are just 3-7 ATS their last 10 games at home. The fact is the public loves this Lakers team, and when Vegas sets a line, you can automatically expect if the Lakers are the favorite, it is going to rise. As we see, this game opened at 8 and already it's to 9. Look back at the player stats in that game - you will see that 3 of Denver's starters in Carter, Camby, and Martin ALL COMBINED FOR ONLY 13 MEASLY POINTS! While Kobe and Gasol combined for nearly 70. Look for a much different game tonight folks, Martin and Camby are scorers, and they will come to play tonight!
Let's play the underdog tonight and take the 9 points. Denver can certainly stay within striking distance and make this one respectable!
