NBA & College Basketball Handicapping Service - What To Expect
NBA Choice (officially established in 1998) is a basketball only sports advising service catering to thousands of customers world-wide. We provide handicapping information, picks, and analysis with particular focus on NBA and college hoops. We do not handicap any other sports outside of american basketball (NBA & NCAA Mens Basketball)
Number of Plays
We expect to release a few picks every day for both the NBA and college. On busy days, we may have 4-8 total plays and on short cards, you may see only 1-3 member picks. There is not a consistent average as every week is different. However, you can expect to get picks for both NBA and college almost every day of the week.
Primary Focus on Underdogs that can Win Outright
Our philosophy is that you can always find value across the board betting sharp underdogs that can win outright. The betting public and those who are less informed will always bet the favorites, especially in big games. However, we have made a name for ourselves for hitting moneyline winners on the undervalued dogs who should be favored in the first place. However, we do mix in a good portion of favorites that are often"due" to cover or are getting solid value.
Some Write-Ups Change starting in 2008: Some NBA & college basketball plays (SIDES & TOTALS) will often NOT include a write-up this season. In the past, we included write-ups with every game released. Since we have added more resources and are including plays almost every day, this will make the service more efficient, allow more time for handicapping, and preserve the value of certain handicapping information longer. The end result of this change will be the opportunity for more value plays and more units earned for your bankroll. However, for higher rated plays, important games, and short daily cards, we may have write-ups available.
Release Times
While most other services out there release their picks right at game-time, we feel the best value is to get your bets in early. Since most of the picks we release are valuable underdogs, often lines-makers will adjust the lines throughout the afternoon to reduce value of the quality underdogs. These line shifts and movements can be easily tracked by our database as we spot the best plays for your portfolio to bet early, not late. This is why we release all of our plays by 11:55 AM ET the day of so our clients can get their releases and maintain the best value.

Rating & Grading
All of our plays have a conservative rating from .5 Unit to 2 Units. View Rating System.This is investing, not gambling and would never ask you to devote more than a small percentage per game from your bankroll. We rely heavily on solid money management principles based on sports investing. We take a market average across the lines of all major sports-books for grading purposes. For example, if seven of the major books have the Heat at -5 and seven other major books have the Heat at -6; then we would grade the selection at -5.5 as this is the average across the major books. For our client, we always encourage to shop around for best value. There are many respectable sportsbooks out there even if we don't affiliate with any. You can weed out the legit sportsbooks from the frauds, so please make sure to do intense research of every sportsbook you consider. Employees here have 5 or 6 different accounts at major sportsbooks as this is the key to sports investing and finding value in the lines.
Line Movement
It's a fact, basketball lines move more than any other sport. This is due to the overwhelming instances of basketball betting on any particular event. When you have 30 lines for college basketball on a Saturday and 10 lines for NBA, it's a given that lines will fluctuate throughout the day. That's why we have the steady release times of 11:55 ET every day. This way you can come in, get your plays, and secure value immediately with the lines. If there is an instance where we expect a line to move we will let you know to wait for best value if thats the case. However, almost 100% of the picks we release are sharp money plays and should be played immediately unless otherwise posted.
Sides & Totals Plays
Often, we release totals plays throughout the week when we see a solid investment opportunity. Finding these totals plays are essential, because often the best value on the card are totals plays. However, the bulk of our picks will be sides and not totals. Totals may represent approximately 8% of our plays.
